Acupuncture NYC - Foot Pain & Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain that is most often seen in athletes, obese people, and persons whose jobs require a considerable amount of walking or standing (especially on hard surfaces). Plantar fasciitis results excess weight or repetitive stress can cause small tears in the fascia on the bottom (plantar region) of the foot, leading to sometimes severe pain that can take several months to resolve.
Acupuncture points used are Kidney 1, 3 and 6; Bladder 60 and 67; Gall Bladder 44; and local a-shi or trigger points on the bottom (plantar region) of the foot. As required an electrostimulator may be connected between Kidney 1 to a local trigger point near the insertion of the plantar fascia to the calcaneus (heel of the foot), and to two other points in the medial (near the inside) arch area. Acupuncture treatment is carried out on the effected side at the rate of one treatment per week typically for a maximum of six sessions, or in difficult cases until a maximum favorable response is attained.
